Formalities

Where to begin? For starters, I owe it all to Girl Friday for inadvertantly having given me a kick in the pants, just by virtue of the fact that I've been reading her blog now and then (among many others, natch) and something she did or said pushed me over the edge this week - something made it inevitable that I would sign on to blogger and take the plunge myself.
